What is Neurofret?
Neurofret is an app that leverages the science of visualization with functional ear training to help users embed melodic relationships into spatial relationships on the fretboard. Increasing our fretboard fluency allows us to translate our auditory imagination into musical expression more efficiently and accurately.
Why Neurofret?
Most ear training apps, while generally helpful, can sequester our learning in what some educators have dubbed "the ear training island," where our ear training practice is disconnected from our instrument. We want to be able to intuit intervalic relationships on our instrument on the fly so we can play what we hear. We do this through:
Our Team
Josh Martin
Josh Martin, an Atlanta Institute of Music alumnus, is renowned for his innovative approach to guitar. He has toured globally with his experimental folk band Little Tybee, and creates engaging educational content on YouTube and Instagram. Josh has taught at the Atlanta Institute of Music and continues to teach virtual lessons.
Jake Ruth
Jake is a guitar player in multiple musical groups and is the lead software engineer of Neurofret. He is passionate about combining his love for music with his skills as a software engineer.
Liz Bevill
Liz Bevill created the illustrations and icon for Neurofret. She is an Atlanta based designer and music lover.
Haley Stipes
Haley is a freelance graphic designer, bringing brands to life through compelling visual identities and seamless UI design. She loves using her creative background to help others bring their visions to life.
